Intro to Me

    Hello everyone, my name is Brett Shaible and welcome to my blog! I am an accounting student at LBCC hoping to one day be a CPA. In fact my goal is to use my CPA and smart investments to retire by the age of 55. I enrolled in this course because marketing is required for my major, this professor rated highest on RateMyProfessor, and marketing is a skill that anyone can make use of. The skill I'm most interested in learning in this course is how to sell to people, be it ideas, products, or myself. That feels like one of the most important skills to have, especially when searching for a job. The thing I'm most passionate about outside of college is video games. I grew up playing video games with my dad and it has continued ever since. I mostly play multiplayer games on the PC.

For my brand this week I chose Stanley Cups. If you don't know, Stanley Cups are a brand of large, metal water cups usually marketed to an outdoorsy audience that have been going viral in recent months among a much younger audience on social media like TikTok. However, it was revealed on January 26th that Stanley Cups use lead in their manufacturing process. This lead is in every Stanley Cup hiding just beneath the stainless steel, " but the product needs to become damaged in order to expose the lead", says Stanley Cup. Marketing In The News - Solo Stove x Snoop Dogg

There was a lot of good choices recently for interesting marketing campaigns but in the end I chose the Solo Stove's Snoop Dogg campaign for this weeks blog. Solo Stove, the creator of a premium smokeless fire pit, had a viral marketing campaign in collaboration with the famous celebrity Snoop Dogg, most known for his rap career and his love for marijuana. The campaign began with a cryptic tweet from Snoop claiming he was giving up smoke and to please respect his and his families privacy during this time. This statement came as a surprise to anyone who knows of Snoop and his affinity for smoking. Then Solo Stove released their video ad staring the celebrity. In the video ad Snoop claimed he was "giving up smoke".
